The Thermal Insulation Contractors Association; representing the Industrial Insulation Industry.
As a Full Member of the TICA you automatically qualify for The National Agreement for Thermal Insulation Contracting (Pink Book) which covers all terms and conditions and working rules for the industry. A copy of the Pink Book can be located in the Membership Information area.
The National Joint Council for the Thermal Insulation Contracting Industry (NJCTICI) was founded in 1959, the Association being the sole employer signatory body along with the GMB and the T&GW Unions.
In 1981 the Association also became one of three employer bodies signatory to the National Agreement for the Engineering Construction Industry (NAECI), which covers the terms and agreements of engineering construction projects. A significant proportion of the Association's work is involved in providing advice and support to member companies on Industrial Relations, Employment and Training matters. A further main activity of the Association through its influential Technical Committee, is its representation to the Health and Safety Executive and the British Standards Institute.
It has been estimated that 70% of all UK construction is carried out by specialist sub-contractors, therefore their position in the UK construction industry is vital and it follows that their continuing well-being is equally important. Despite the key role they play, the contractual nature of the Construction Industry generally means that the specialist sub-contractor individually has little influence on the major factors affecting his prosperity.
The Association is committed to using the combined strength of its members to do all it can to protect, improve and promote their interests.
There are different categories of Membership, therefore if you feel that your organisation would benefit from the TICA then please view our Membership Information area.
TICA For the Public
Thermal insulation and your world: The Thermal Insulation Contractors Association was formed in 1959 to promote its Membership and that correctly applied thermal insulation will save energy and cost for their clients.
These principles still apply some 50 years later, and as we all are now aware, we can add to that the fact that we must reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
President Obama on insulation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6S0dYkIN20
The industry worldwide consumes about 26% of the world's energy and produces about 50% of all CO2 emissions. Experts know that there is big potential to improve these numbers by implementing sustainable insulation systems.
Industrial and commercial insulation is a proven first step to creating energy efficiency and energy conservation, but unlike in the building sector it is vastly underestimated by both industry (economically and environmentally) and government (policy making). Especially unfortunate is the lack of awareness that industrial and commercial insulation comes with amazing short payback periods. Consequently it creates a ‘win-win' situation for the environment as well as for investors and plant operators. Therefore it should be on top of their agendas as the first step to improve energy efficiency and to reduce carbon emissions.
'The world is facing the climate crisis and we must no longer ignore the options we have. The insulation technology can be used immediately without further development or research. It will help to save energy and money and reduce CO2 emissions right from the moment it is installed.'
The TICA is committed to using the combined strength of its members to do all it can to protect, improve and promote what correctly applied thermal insulation can do to help reduce cost but also be a major factor in reducing CO2 emissions.
