In the past, if a pipe or cable was needed to run from one side of a road to the other, the road would be closed and a trench dug across it.

Luckily nowadays alternatives exist.
There is a range of different Trenchless techniques, each designed to suit a particular situation. Whatever method is chosen, the end results are the same:

  • Less disruption & lower reinstatement costs

  • Reduced spoil removal & environmental impact

  • Roadways & footpaths remain open & landscaped or protected areas remain unspoilt

A different class of service
In contrast to many companies, we do not employ subcontractors to take over the minute you have awarded your important works to us. Contracts are followed through from start to finish by our own dedicated and capable staff.

“With today’s ever shrinking lead times no-one can afford delays through unnecessarily long chains of communication, our on-site staff are empowered to respond immediately to our customers requirements.
(Luke Mosley, Director)

How Does It Work
Typically, utility installation or renewal will involve gaining access at either end of the run via pits excavated to the depth of the service to be laid or renewed.

Equipment will then be placed in one or both of the pits and installation will take place beneath the area of ground between the pits.

Or, as is the case with Horizontal Directional Drilling, the bore path can be guided to enter and exit the ground following the desired trajectory.

The size of the pits will obviously depend on the technique employed and the size of service in question. When laying services up to about 32mm in diameter the Launch and Receive pits can be as small as 750mm x 150mm and be 20 meters apart. A quick sum will show that you are looking at about 15 times less excavation than a trench!

Electrofusion Welding
Electrofusion and Butt Fusion techniques are used to make permanent joints in PE pipe work systems in the Gas and Water industries.

Electrofusion involves the use of fittings into which the pipes are inserted. An electric current is then applied to melt the assembly together. With Butt Fusion the pipes are joined directly without an additional fitting.

Successful jointing of PE pressure pipes using these methods requires strict control of the parameters and conditions. For this reason we utilise the latest in computer controlled automated Fusion equipment ensuring perfect joints time after time.
