Scandinavian Architectural System is the UK division of Sapa Building System AB in Sweden. We have been active on the UK market for over twenty years and in 1993 the Chester Sales and Technical office was opened. Since then we have developed unique thermally efficient products, now complying with Approved Documents L and J. Extensive testing has also been carried out to relevant BS and EN test standards.
On an on going basis we train our independent fabricators to manufacture and supply our high performing systems.
Sapa Building System AB, in Sweden, develop and market aluminium systems for doors, windows, facades, glazed roofs and solar shading. They control the entire chain from production of dies, extrusion of profiles, surface treatment, and insulation to stocking system profiles and accessories.
Complete building system
We develop, test, market and stock aluminium profiles and accessories used in the Building System. Our products are developed to withstand the hard climate of northern Europe, and comply with the building standards and the requirements of this market. The final products are manufactured by independent specialist companies, which assure their quality through certification by the Technical Research Institute of Sweden (SP).
The Sapa Building System is developed to form a consistent architectural solution in which the design and the function harmonize.

Why aluminium?
Aluminium is the third most common element in the Earth’s crust. The supply of this metal can be regarded as unlimited, since about 8% of the Earth’s crust consists of aluminium in the form of different minerals. In order to reduce the environmental impact, the mining is often done in a square pattern, where untouched areas interlace with open pits. Nearly 100% of aluminium can be recycled. When recycling aluminium, the remelting process requires only about 5% of the energy required for the production of the primary metal. Thus, the aluminium products we use today make a future source of the material. Our building system consists to a great extent of recycled metal.
Considering its weight, aluminium is a strong and durable material. Products made of aluminium profiles require minimum maintenance.
