What is Air Conditioning?
Air conditioning is a form of air treatment whereby temperature humidity, ventilation and air cleanliness can all be controlled by the requirements of the client.
Why use Air Conditioning?
In commercial buildings such as offices and shops the principal reason for installing and maintaining good air conditioning is to improve comfort and productivity.
- Because people prefer places they frequently visit to be comfortable, e.g. shops, hotels, pubs and clubs.
- Meet practical requirements, as in Doctors/Dentist surgeries, laboratories and conference rooms.
- Because a product or process requires it, e.g. computer rooms, solar gain and shop lighting.
- Increases productivity from employees.
Heat Pumps
Heat pumps can provide heat as well as cooling. This is useful where a wet system is not practical. Maybe there is only one area to condition, just think heating and cooling for all year comfort. They are also far more efficient to run compared to electrical heaters.
Heat pumps can provide 3kw of heat for 1kw of electric used.
