About Us
We take great pride in our totally professional approach to all aspects of our business from first contact with the client, the survey, completion of works and after sales service.

We maintain the highest standards demanded of us by our membership of the PCA (Property Care Association formally the British Wood Preserving and Damp Proofing Association), the WTIF (Wall Tie Installers Federation) and the BSWA (British Structural Waterproofing Association). Our surveyors are either CSRT (Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatment), CSSW (Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing) qualified or members of the Institute of Surveying and Specialist Engineers (M.Inst.SSE).

We are proud to anounce our accreditation of the nationwide Health and Safety scheme; Chas, and membership of Constructionline, the government sponsored agency for the approval of contractors in the construction industy.

Our declared aim is to ensure that we always interpret our client's exact requirements and produce recommendations which ensure the long term and total protection of our clients properties.

Cellar & Basement Conversions
Cellar and basement conversions are becoming more popular as property prices increase and moving home may not be affordable or convenient. Basement conversions can be a surprisingly inexpensive way of increasing the living or storage space of the property. The DWC Group are specialist in the field of damp proofing and waterproofing underground structures...

Rising & Penetrating Damp
Rising damp is the action of water moving vertically through porous building material in contact with the ground. This is brought about by the drying action of air on the upper surfaces which causes the wall to act like a wick, drawing water upwards from the ground by capillary action, which then evaporates from the surface into the atmosphere.

Dry Rot & Wet Rot
Dry Rot - Is a wood destroying fungus causing the most serious timber decay in buildings, often resulting in extensive damage. It has the ability to grow through brickwork, mortar and behind plaster...
Wet Rot - A general term applied to many species of fungus, all of which will cause timber decay. They can be divided into two groups; brown and white rots...

Woodworm
Woodworm in Essex, Kent, Sussex and London; Wood boring insects such as the Common Furniture Beetle (Anobium Punctatum) and Wood Boring Weevil (Euophryum Confine) are often gathered under the generic term ''woodworm''...

Wall Ties & Structural Reinforcing
Wall tie corrosion is affecting many properties in the UK, especially in coastal and exposed locations. The mild steel or galvanised wire ties embedded into the mortar eventually start to corrode. In its advanced stages, the corrosion will cause horizontal cracking and eventually loss of stability between the two skins of brickwork...

Condensation
Condensation is caused by a lack of airflow and ventilation in a property. The surface of the plaster may be damp to the touch and there is also likely to be a smell in the property and an attack of toxic mould (Aspergillus Niger) may affect clothing and wall surfaces alike. Condensation accounts for approx. 70% of reported domestic damp and is undoubtedly a contributing cause of some infestation by wood boring beetle and dry rot outbreaks...

Water Leaks & Flood Damage
Water leaks and flood damage often are covered by your insurance policy. Here at DWC we pride ourselves in being able to take on the whole job from surveying the damage, negotiating with your insurers on your behalf and carrying out the repair works.

Listed Buildings
When considering remedial treatment to listed buildings, special consideration should be given to the recommendations for work, as there are limitations and legal restrictions on what work may or may not be carried out, and what materials may or may not be used.
