The company was started with one lorry and a small nucleus of reliable sub-contract hauliers and initially traded from premises at Lamberhurst in Kent. We now provide many services including Grab lorry hire, Muck away, Sand, Topsoil, Bark, Woodchips, Mulches and other aggregates supplied throughout Kent.
In 1997, the base moved to Laddingford, mid-way between Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone. A controlled expansion programme was implemented and the fleet now comprises of some twenty-two vehicles. Most are “8 wheelers” (18-20 tonne capacity) but there are also 6 wheeler tippers which are able to get into sites with restricted access where the 8 wheelers cannot go. Some of both sizes of lorry are equipped with long reach cranes and grab buckets for self-loading. There is also a “small load” lorry with a 3.5 tonne capacity. All the lorries have experienced drivers who are encouraged to take pride in their vehicles and be courteous to customers and the general public.
Drivers are provided with mobile phones for rapid communication with the office. Additionally, the vehicles are fitted with real time satellite tracking devices which enable the lorries to be located from the office computers within 10 seconds, as well as providing detailed historical data on vehicle journeys. This normally enables us to respond to customer delivery enquiries immediately.
The company also operates a fleet of bulldozers and excavators for use on earthworks projects, where the experience and advice available can be of great benefit to private clients and builders not conversant with excavation and earthworks techniques.
Tipper Lorry Fleet
Ardula’s own fleet of distinctly liveried red and blue lorries is the envy of many others in the area. Image and safety are of paramount importance and so the lorries are cleaned at least weekly and there is a rigorous maintenance and inspection programme to ensure the vehicles are kept in safe and reliable running order. All vehicles are fitted with front to back automated sheeting systems for load security and driver safety. The fleet comprises lorries of different types and sizes to be able to suit a number of varied site conditions.
- 4 axle 8 wheelers for carrying loads up to just under 20 tonnes—most are fitted with hydraulically activated tailgates for enhanced driver convenience and safety, giving quicker tipping and turnaround times. Some have grab cranes which offer long reach loading or offloading and are operated by trained drivers dedicated to customer service and satisfaction
- 3 axle 6 wheelers with and without grab cranes for self loading and getting into tight accesses—the grabs offer long reach loading or offloading and are operated by trained drivers dedicated to customer service and satisfaction
- 7.5 tonne gross 2 axle for really confined sites and small load deliveries
Primary Natural Aggregates
Sub-base, shingle, sand and ballast, etc. are all available from local pits, quarries and wharves in kent. They are supplied by recognised producers and meet relevant Highways, Water Industry and British Standards Specifications.
Topsoil, Bark, Wood chips & Mulches
Sandy, loamy blended soils are available with certificated chemical analyses and gradings. Budget screened soils can be provided and although they are sometimes suitable for planting, we recommend their use generally confined to a turfing base.
A wide range of bark, wood chip and green waste mulches can be supplied as well as bark or softwood peelings for children’s play areas.
