The business was established a number of years ago, after it’s owner got disillusioned about the quality and client approach of the big survey companies he used to work for on management level for over 10 years.
It started out to provide land and GPS survey solutions and quickly got recognised as a very flexible and high quality survey provider to the building industry direct and to major survey companies. AG Surveys (as it is called widely) created a wide customer base, ranging from individuals extending their private houses over major building companies to the big survey companies of the South of England.
Surveys
AGs GPS and Land Surveys are undertaking all kinds of measured surveys. We have measured back gardens, waste lands, industrial sites and highways for planning proposals.
Some of the projects:
- 3mm height accuracy survey of runways (night work on domestic airport and clearance work on RAF airfield);
- engineering surveys to establish damage and out of line tolerances on a tug boat propulsion system and a trunnion mounting in steel works;
- various photocontrol stations (pre- and post marks) for aerial photography projects throughout the UK (~ 5000 points in 50mm accuracy);
- high accuracy control station surveys and photo-control in East London for the Cross link project and the extension of the DLR (5mm accuracies);
- field completion surveys for major water pipelines in the SE for Suffolk and Essex Water (over 50 miles site length);
- various motorway control networks for the M32, M4 and M5 (over 50 miles);
- various building surveys including floorplans, elevations, sections and roofplans for buildings from small barns and garages to major inner city hotels and office blocks;
- build control surveys, from the initial pre-build site survey through to setting-out, monitoring surveys, checks on build accuracy, as-build surveys, underground tracing and survey consultancy;
- coastal monitoring with the involvement in the 5year coastal monitoring of North Cornwall and East Devon beaches for the Environment Agency;
- various surveys for local councils of school sites and highways in the South West;
- projects of sea defence monitoring and flood plain surveys throughout the UK, Northern Ireland and Germany;
- topographical surveys as big as a 28ha hospital site and 25ha industrial site;
- full tree surveys of sites up to 100ha;
To achieve our survey accuracies and to be able to carry out such a wide range of measured surveys, we use the latest Leica Geosystems equipment (5 and 1 sec 1200 series robotic total smart stations GPS enabled as well as 500 series and 1200 series GPS). We also use a wealth of specially designed survey tools, some of them have only been designed for a specific task. The acquired data is then processed in house by various survey software before final drawings, reports or findings are send to the client.
We always strive to complete the projects to the client specifications. This sometimes means lengthly consultations with the client to determine the needs and future use of our surveys, to advise the best product available, the best survey method to achieve the product and the most economic way to carry out the survey.
