Motorway Sign Gantry
This innovative design from Gifford has been adopted by the DOE roads service to provide Electronic signalling to the carriageways . The structure, which is designed to withstand major impacts, represents a step forward in lightweight design and provides easy access for maintenance.
Fabrication is to the highest standards and our quality planning incorporates testing at each key stage from materials arriving to completion of the fabrication.
With more than 650 separate component parts programming of the work requires attention to details and completion of each section on time.
With a requirement of 20 years to first maintenance the protective coatings are applied in controlled conditions and in complete accordance with the manufacturers recommendations, independent testing ensures that the required coverage is achieved
 Some Gantries exceed 30 metres in length and movement to site requires detailed planning of the route and liasing with the traffic branch to minimise disruption to other road users.
Erecting sign Gantries is carried out overnight, usually at a weekend, so Health & Safety issues are very important, with all the hazards both to employees and road users considered. Written procedures have been developed and implemented to cover all foreseeable eventualities.
