 Schlüter’s revolutionary underfloor heating system, Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM, won The Tile Association’s Best New Innovation of the Year award, as it solves the long-standing problem of tiling successfully over underfloor heating while providing a system which is easily regulated and can be operated with especially low supply temperatures, giving reduced fuel costs.
The Schlüter®-DILEX range of profiles provide a maintenance-free, functional solution for movement and control joints in ceramic tile and natural stone coverings. Meeting BSI recommendations for the maximum size of individual tile fields means the Schlüter®-DILEX range is regularly specified by architects.
The waterproofing and uncoupling membrane Schlüter®-DITRA is a polyethylene matting that neutralises tensions between the substrate and the tiles. It forms an uncoupling and vapour-pressure equalisation layer when used with tile and stone coverings. It is also suitable for wet rooms, balconies and terraces.
Schlüter®-DITRA-SOUND serves as a sound insulation in tiled floor assemblies, and bridges existing cracks in damaged substrates. It is a heavy matting made of polyethylene with an anchoring fleece laminated on both sides.
Schlüter®-KERDI is a waterproof matting that is integrated into the tiled assembly. It is supplemented by a complete range of waterproofing strips, corners and pipe collars, as well as Schlüter®-KERDI-FIX for securely bonded joints. The waterproofing system is guaranteed, when used with Schlüter®-KERDI-COLL, a two-component sealant adhesive.
Schlüter®-SCHIENE profiles are used to finish and protect the edges of tiles where they abut neighbouring floor surfaces of the same height, such as timber and carpet. The anchoring leg can be punched with a radius perforation for forming curves, which allows for greater design flexibility.
Where neighbouring surfaces are a different height from the tiles, the Schlüter®-RENO range creates a smooth, stepless transition. For covering assemblies and underfloor heating, Schlüter®-BEKOTEC is a modular screed system that can be constructed quickly, and creates crack-free and reliable floating or heated floors. Using the heating components of Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM it can be used to install an effective underfloor floor heating system which is characterised by a low construction height, short construction time, comfortable room temperature, and especially low running costs.
The Schlüter®-TREP range of anti-slip stair nosings protects the edges of steps from damage and ensures that the tile covering remains intact. They are suitable for stairs with high volumes of pedestrian traffic.
Composition and manufacture:
Edge protection profiles are available in brass, stainless steel and aluminium.
Movement joints are available in stainless steel, PVC, brass and aluminium.
A combination of materials can be used depending on the requirements of each individual application.
Waterproofing membranes are made from polyethylene with an anchoring fleece laminated to one or both sides.
Stair nosings have an aluminium or stainless steel support section with a replaceable thermoplastic tread.
Technical support: Schlüter-Systems Ltd offers full technical support with all aspects of design and installation, including site surveys where necessary. Other technical support services include advice on tile protection and training. Training programmes are available for tilers, tile distributors, retailers and stockists, either at customers’ premises, or at Schlüter’s purpose-built training centre in Leicestershire, along with RIBA Continuing Professional Development courses for architects, held at architectural practices.
