Low E Glass The Low-E coating is on one of the interior faces of the glass. A simple Low-E coating helps to reduce heatloss, but allows the room to be warmed by any sunshine, therefore reducing the cost of your heating bills.
Low-emissivity coatings are microscopically thin, virtually invisible, metallic oxide layers deposited on a window surface primarily to reduce the U Factor by suppressing radiative heat flow. Different types of Low-E coatings have been designed to allow for high solar gain, moderate solar gain, or low solar gain.
Toughened Float Glass Toughened or Tempered glass is glass that has been processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments. Toughened glass is 4-5 times stronger than ordinary float glass. It can still be broken; however if this does happen, it shatters into small fragments, minimising the risk of injury.
Self Cleaning Glass Self cleaning glass keeps itself free of dirt and grime through natural processes. The coating breaks down the organic dirt on the glass using ultraviolet in sunlight even on overcast days. The rain then washes away the dirt - leaving almost no streaks, because hydrophilic glass spreads the water evenly over its surface. Laminated Safety Glass Laminated Glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. When broken it is held in place by a PVB interlayer, between its two or more layers of glass.
The interlayer keeps the layers of glass together even when broken, and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into large, sharp pieces. This produces a characteristic ''spider web'' cracking pattern when the impact is not enough to completely pierce the glass.
Laminated glass is often used in storefronts, curtainwalls and windows.
The PVB interlayer also gives the glass a much higher sound insulation rating, due to the damping effect, and also blocks 99% of transmitted UV light.
