Born from an emphasis on both economy and sustainability, GNC prides itself on doing away with the ‘belt and braces’ approach to structural design. Using the latest, most powerful software we are able to produce detailed, accurate calculations which are compliant with the relevant codes and standards.
Founded March 2008, GNC Engineering has grown rapidly and has a large, loyal and diverse client base across the UK who value our emphasis on economy, attention to detail, and willingness to look at alternative options for various designs.

Structural engineering with an emphasis on economy in materials has been the ethos for GNC Engineering from the beginning. We design in a multitude of different materials and develop cost effective design solutions for any project. This approach is applied to projects of any scale, from small domestic to large scale commercial developments.

Our structural team has particular expertise in timber projects covering the residential, retail, industrial, education and healthcare sectors.
Over the years our engineers have worked on a number of highly individual projects requiring bespoke design solutions. These have ranged from straw bale houses in Scotland, to the restoration of listed and historic buildings where the preservation of the existing structural elements is paramount. Our timber frame expertise is particularly important in this context. Where neccessary the sensitive addition of modern materials and techniques will bring the building up to the required structural standards.
All of our clients are valued and provided with full support throughout the design and construction process, engineers are happy to undertake site visits where neccessary and are always available to answer questions on the phone.
Design process and the role of detailing.
We use the latest in computer modelling techniques including 3 dimensional frame analysis and design software Masterseries to provide fast and accurate designs. We also use finite element analysis for specialist areas of design.
