As well as purely engineering services we have long experience of the development of projects from the first sketch ideas to the construction phase.
Smaller sized practices such as ours have the advantages of personal service and low costs. Without the overheads generated by large corporate company structures we are able to pass on significant savings in terms of lower hourly rates and lower overall fees. By the same token, you may be assured that your project will not be passed on to other sections or office locations within the company.
You are at liberty to engage us on a full service basis or on a “calculation only” basis to provide calculation and detailing of particular parts of the structure for the purposes of Building Control Approval. This “calculation only” basis is often appropriate where discrete elements such as splitter beams or lintels need to be sized and detailed within an otherwise fully designed and detailed project.

Structural Engineering
Full and partial (“calculation only”) services are offered for a full range of buildings constructed in any of the major structural materials, whether that is steelwork, reinforced or mass concrete, masonry, timber or a combination of those materials. Working from Architects’ scheme designs or other project design drawings we provide full design calculations, together with layout and detail drawings. All such calculations are based on the requirements of the appropriate British Standard. Additionally we are capable of providing the necessary calculations to demonstrate the structural stability of certain imported building systems such as “log cabin” styles from Northern Europe, which do not follow the provisions of British Standards. We welcome the opportunity to discuss projects in the early stages and provide assessments of the proposals and appraisals of the suggested structural materials.
Timber Frame Design
We have considerable experience in the field of sheathed panel timber frame design, both the open panel form where no insulation or membranes are installed in the factory and the closed panel form where such items are installed before the panels are dispatched to site for erection. We have developed a dedicated, flexible design program which allows us to provide frame calculations and details at very competitive rates whilst cutting the response time to a minimum.
Civil Engineering
As indicated elsewhere in these pages, we have the capability to provide civil engineering design and drawing services to our Clients. This may be part of an overall scheme or as a stand-alone service. Elements of civil engineering include estate roads to adoption standards, access bridges across elements such as streams, culverts, impounding and attenuation lakes, drainage systems, service trench provision and earth retaining structures.
