Eco Foam Spray Insulation is an environmentally aware company dedicated to energy efficiency, eco friendly building and keeping with sustainable development.
We are committed to helping Ireland’s homeowners and businesses become more energy efficient and less energy dependant. The first step in making your home or business an eco home, whether a new build, renovation or simply upgrading an existing property, is to install Eco foam spray insulation.
The need for more home owners and businesses to become more energy efficient has greatly increased over the last couple of years due to a number of factors; increasing cost of energy, people becoming more environmentally aware of their carbon footprint and the introduction of the Building Energy Certificate (BER)- a compulsory document for all homes and business premises being sold or rented in the Republic of Ireland, brought into effect from January 2009, showing the energy performance of the premises; and the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) in Northern Ireland.
The Need for Insulation Insulation has and will always be an integral part of the building process. It works from its installation over the life of the building quietly, effectively and continually out of sight usually within the envelope of the building. Adequate insulation is required by law to comply with mandatory legislation, set out in current building regulations.
The need for insulation is changing, not only from a building and industry perspective, but also as conscientious consumers are becoming better educated and demanding higher energy efficiency from their homes and businesses.
The significance of correct insulation cannot be underestimated or overlooked. In residential or commercial use it is primarily used for its thermal, acoustic and fire retention properties. Insulation is the cheapest yet most effective way of reducing home energy running costs.
The basic principal of insulation Thermal Insulation works on a single basic principal: Heat will always move from warmer areas to cooler areas. Therefore on cold days heat from inside the building will seek to get outside. And on warm days the opposite will occur. Insulation is the material that is used to slow this process down. However not all standard insulation can control air leakage or air infiltration that is a common cause for heat loss in buildings.
Air Tightness Air leakage or air infiltration is the uncontrolled movement of air through the building fabric. This is not to be mistaken with ventilation, which is the controlled flow of air through, in and out of a building through purposely installed ventilation systems, either mechanically or otherwise. Unwanted air leakage leads to high heat loss and cold draughts within the building. By eliminating air leakage You can significantly improve your buildings thermal efficiency, reduce costly fuel bills and provide a draught free environment for improved indoor air quality.
Of all methods to reduce energy use in a building, air leakage control is the most effective. In a typical house with no special attention to air sealing, air leakage accounts for about one third of heating and cooling costs. Such big losses offer the greatest opportunity for big savings, so air tightness deserves plenty of consideration.
Our Product Eco foam spray insulation is an innovative product that not only offers great insulation properties but also acts as an air seal providing an air tight building. Eco foam spray insulation can be applied to walls and ceilings in both new and existing properties.
Spray foam insulation will out perform standard insulating techniques because as it is applied as a liquid it expands at a rate of approx 120 times within 25 seconds to fill all voids and gaps creating a sealed thermal and airtight building envelope. The application of spray foam insulation creates a highly effective seal against air leakage the most common cause for heat loss within buildings.
Eco foam spray insulation offers a better overall thermal performance at nearly the same cost as other insulating products. Since conventional methods of insulating can settle and sag they cannot continue to offer the same thermal performance over the life of the building. Conventional methods of insulating will lose their thermal properties if water or moisture is absorbed by the insulating material. Eco foam spray insulation will not settle or sag and will remain intact over the life of the building. Read More...
