Several years ago, when finding it problematic sourcing a suitable traditional metal casement for use within our structures, we took the decision to design and make our own. Combining our wealth of experience in engineering, period detail and extensive research into the history of the metal casement window, our product was born. Today, we have a totally dedicated factory making windows and doors for projects throughout the world.
Our beautiful handmade metal casements offer an exciting and traditional alternative to the steel and aluminium windows generally available. Made from architectural bronze, they are usually incorporated within stone, brick or timber openings. Whilst particularly suited to traditional buildings, they can equally lend themselves to more contemporary style projects.
SYSTEMS AVAILABLE Our Heritage System is the simplest and most delicate of our extrusions. It can be bent to form curves and can also be divided with horizontal and vertical transoms which makes it the most adaptable in design terms. It is also ideal for single glazing and traditional leaded lights.
The Advanced System was developed to provide greater performance, necessary to achieve the U value requirements in ‘part L’ of current Building Regulations. A feature of the Advanced System is a decorative bronze beading that secures the glass in place.
Many windows across Europe open inwards and this has been the inspiration for our Inward Opening System. The main benefit with this system is that windows can be cleaned from the inside, which is ideal for properties with high or difficult to access windows where conventional cleaning is not an option.
Our Bronze doors have been designed to compliment the Advanced and Inward Opening Systems, but have been used frequently alongside Heritage windows. The doors fit within a heavy bronze frame with bronze threshold.
SPECIFICATION AND OPTIONS The Extrusions
All sections are extruded from a high tensile manganese brass alloy termed Architectural Bronze which is recognised for its pleasing bronze colour and suitability. The casements once constructed are aged in our antiquing plant.
Handles, Backplates, stays and pins.
We currently offer two different backplates to suit the period of property and level of decoration required. Two handles are available; the 'D' handle and scroll handle. The casement stays, plain or swan neck, sit on either a plain or fleur-de-lis peg.
Security An optional locking casement stay pin can be incorporated to increase the security of the window which locks it in its closed position. Hinge pins can be supplied as an optional security measure although all our windows have been tested and pass BS 7950 for enhanced security performance.
Other additional features Trickle vents can be fitted to meet Building Regulation requirements where alternative air movement options are not available. Rain guards can be fitted on abutting windows to protect the lower casement. Saddle bars can be provided to support glass on traditional leaded lights.
HOW WE WORK Arriving at the correct system for your project can be helped by talking your requirements through with one of our design technicians who can make a site visit, check existing reveals and explain all the design and technical options available for your particular project. We also welcome you to our showrooms and factory to see our windows and doors being made.
Each window is made to your exacting specifications. Latest CNC technology cuts and machines the various different extrusions, which then pass to our team of skilled metal workers who will assemble each window bringing together all components.
We offer a full measuring service for our windows. In addition, our installation service provides a team of skilled and experienced fitters, overseen by our Installations Manager.
