It took him around two years to develop the Joist cap which was originally marketed as Joist Helmet. Simon calculated that the old method of wrapping the joist in damp proof material and then silconing was time consuming and expensive. His estimate was that by using Joist Shield an average saving of around £200 could be made per house. The unique design allows for the use of joists from 3in up to 12inch. (A spacer is provided for 3inch joists and a noggin can be removed fro 12inch with out sacrificing strength.)
Meets N.H.B.C. technical standards. Part L and part E compliant, carries a B.B.A. certificate.
The Joist S Joist Shield is fully effective in pressure tests. When the wood shrinks the Joist Shield remains flush fitting in the wall thus preventing air leakage and the transmission of sound in to the cavity.
Joist shield is made from transparent polypropylene, enabling visual inspection for correct joist load bearing.
The joist cap can be used back to back therefore allowing it to be used on party walls. This also allows for unobstructed placement of block, joists and restraint straps and allows ease of pointing.
The joist cap has a maximum fill line leaving a gap inside the box at the top to allow moisture from the wood to evaporate.
Joist Cap can be used below damp proof courses or in old walls as it prevents moisture being absorbed by the joist.
The unique ridge pattern on the Joist Caps sides provides a key for mortar and therefore provides added strength.
Available in two sizes Blue 4inch and pink 2inch. Fitting joists in arrange of sizes from 5-12 inches. A spacer is provided for 3in joists. Each cap spans three brick courses or one breeze block.
The Joist cap is strong and easy to use requiring only two 40mill screw to fix
