Established in 1976 and operating solely from our headquarters in the North East of England, we provide ‘Virtual Construction’, BIM and Model Coordination services in addition to traditional detailing and Dimensional Control Surveying.

3D Structural Detailing using Tekla Structures to provide:
- Customised fabrication drawings
- Individual fitting sketches
- General Arrangements for planning and erection
- Project related reports — material lists, bolts lists, shipping load lists, weight control, centre of gravity locations etc...
- Data Output — DSTV, NC, Fabtrol, KISS etc...
- 3D model viewer
- Interfaces with alternative 3D packages e.g PDMS, ArchiCAD, AutoCAD etc...
We currently operate 26 full Tekla Structures Licenses and 4 Drafting Licenses, we have the capacity to detail 40,000 tons per annum.
‘Virtual Construction’ and Model Coordination Services
The 'Virtual Construction’ process is designed to simulate a real time construction process.
Consteel has embraced ‘Virtual Construction’ as part of our ongoing commitment to finding a better solution to the way we do things. Using Tekla Structures our planning team create a 3 Dimensional environment from two dimensional plans and, if required, incorporating fourth and fifth dimensions.
Our team can create a 3D model to visualise how a site will look at every phase of construction.
BIM {Building Information Modeling!
BIM can be seen as a companion to ‘Virtual Construction’ and allows us to coordinate additional trades, services and site logistics. BIM can be used to demonstrate the entire building life cycle, including the processes of construction and facility operation. Quantities and shared properties of materials can be easily extracted from the model.
Traditional Detailing
We offer traditional 2D structural steel detailing design drawings for engineering, steel fabrication and erection companies, from general arrangement drawings to fully detailed fabrication drawings. We currently operate 39 AutoCAD Licenses.
Connection Design
We provide connection design services which include:
- Connection Plans
- Design as per LRFD, ASD, BS and SI Standards
- Detailed calculations and complete text
Estimating[Material Take-off:
We can assist you with your project estimating. Using Tekla Structures we can create you a
model that can be utilized to provide a fully itemised bill of quantities, construction erection
sequences and also highlight potential project risks, allowing you the time to develop a cost
effective solution.
