Based centrally in the UK at Glaston Hall in Rutland and with offices in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Lincoln, it offers services to a wide range of public and private sector clients across the United Kingdom.
We are also proud to have an LRQA ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System and to be Investors in People. We strive to offer a prompt, accurate and competitive service and to produce designs which can be built quickly, easily and therefore cost effectively.
Services
Smithers Purslow offer full structural design services together with structural investigations, contract administration and project management if required. The practice has considerable expertise in dealing with domestic and commercial buildings' insurance claims, from fires and floods to subsidence, heave and landslip. Smithers Purslow's Chartered Engineers deal with projects ranging from small buildings to large structural and civil engineering schemes.
Designs are formulated with value and 'buildability' in mind and practical advice is offered during the construction stage.
Our Building Surveyors offer professional advice on all aspects of building from design to refurbishment, adaption, alteration and repair. Specialist surveys are available in the fields of party wall, asbestos, boundary disputes and expert witness reports.

Engineering
We offer a full range of professional services including civil and structural engineering and building surveying with links to architects, quantity surveyors and mechanical/electrical engineering consultants. Our specialisms include new build and remodelling, building insurance investigations and the refurbishment of historic buildings and bridges.
The Practice has Quality Assurance certification to ISO 9001 and is fully up-to-date with the latest CAD and IT systems. As Investors in People we pride ourselves on our teamwork and our commitment to customer satisfaction.
Surveying
The department employs Chartered and Graduate Building Surveyors working for private and public sector clients, insurers and loss adjusters predominantly on domestic and commercial properties.
Our specialisms include project management of building alterations and extensions, buildings' insurance claims, party wall advice, acquisition surveys, defects appraisals and expert witness reports. Our surveying department is efficient and innovative but still retains traditional values and high standards of customer care.
Technical services
Smithers Purslow has developed a range of technical products and services for loss adjusters, insurers, structural engineers, building surveyors, local authorities, housing associations, landlords and property owners in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. Our services are provided by a national team of building technicians and our in-house support staff using the latest information technology.
Insurance
Our experienced professional and support staff are involved with claims from start to finish dealing with initial diagnosis through project management of the mitigation and restoration to contract administration of the repair works.
We are also involved in preparing expert witness reports for Insurers to assist with third party recovery cases.
We assist private individuals, brokers and agents with technical issues on claims, dealing directly with insurers and loss adjusters. We have particular expertise in dealing with complex cases, complaint situations, unusual buildings and high net worth policies.
