Built-Up
BUR flat roof is 'Built-Up' using a number of technologically advanced individual membranes or plys, the most important of which is the waterproofing membrane.
The new generation of BUR waterproof membranes are based on inorganic materials such as polyester and glass fibre which use compounds such as APP (atactic polypropylene) and high performance rubber-modified SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene).
Rag-based bitumen was absorbent and subject to rot, had low tear strength and was easily damaged during laying and roof movements resulting in low life expectancy and justifiably soured attitudes toward BUR.
New membrane systems supply a 20 year life at a cost only 25% greater or a 40 year life at a cost only 33% greater than rag-based flat roof which would have a life expectancy of only 8 years. Installing a new or recovering an existing BUR with the new membranes provides not only the best technological solution but is much more cost effecient than a pitched and tiled roof.
Marcher BUR systems come with a 10-20 year materials and labour guarantee depending on system specifications.
Marcher do not patch or repair existing systems, we only lay new BUR systems replacing existing chipboard decking with either new plywood or softwood. Insulation is also replaced.
Asphalt
Marcher offers the Callendars Peel-Bak system as a hi-tech/low cost solution to replacing and maintaining life-expired and leaking asphalt flat roofs at one third the cost of a new one.
Peel-Bak specifications:
- The underlay membrane, designed to make a peelable bond that provides adequate resistance to wind uplift yet enables removal without damaging the asphalt, is bonded directly to your existing asphalt roof.
- The waterproofing membrane is bonded in bitumen to the underlay membrane by the torch-on method.
- At the end of its service life the system is simply 'peeled back' and replaced extending the life of your asphalt roof indefinitely without the need for costly re-roofing.
- This is covered by a full materials and labour guarantee for the first 12 years. Total life expectancy is at least 20 years.
- Saves you the cost of temporary roof structures whilst stripping off the existing asphalt and can be installed during winter meaning minimum disruption.
- Waterproofing membrane is available in a plain sand-surfaced finish or four coloured mineral finishes of white, cork, green and blue/gray.
- Also suitable for use on existing Built-Up roofing systems (BUR).
Asbestos Cement
By fitting Callenders Profile Plus roofing system on top of your existing asbestos cement or profiled metal roof Marcher helps you avoid the cost of removing and disposing of deteriorating and life-expired profiled asbestos cement roofs by specialist asbestos removal contractors.
Profile Plus specifications:
- The lower surface of the polystyrene insulating board is profiled to precisely match your existing roof.
- The upper surface is flat with an underlay membrane factory pre-bonded directly to it.
- The insulating board is mechanically fixed to your existing profiled sheeting.
- The waterproofing membrane is polymer-modified bituminous capsheet fully compatible with the pre-bonded underlay.
- The mineral surfaced capsheet is bonded in bitumen to the underlay by the torch-on method and is available in a range of five colours.
- Insulation and weatherproofing in one process offers you heat loss energy savings, improved working environment and potential change of building use.
- Overlaying your existing roof means minimum cost and disruption to your building.
- Appearance and enhancement of a completely new roof increases your buildings value.
