BAM To Build BREEAM Excellent Training Centre

One of the UK’s largest contractors, BAM, is to build an Officer Safety Training Centre for Thames Valley Police.

BAM Construction South East has been awarded the £4.3 million contract for the facility on the Thames Valley Police principle training facility in Sulhamstead, Berkshire.

As well as a dedicated facility for officer safety training and fitness assessments, the scheme will create some limited additional meeting rooms, office accommodation and support rooms.

To deliver this specialist training there will be areas of the centre with padded walls and flooring, and capacity to deliver additional training.

The building is being designed to reach BREEAM Excellent standards and will embody sustainable design principles. The scheme is planned to include a green roof, photovoltaics, a biomass boiler and timber roof beams.

Work is expected to start on site in September 2012 and to complete in September 2013.

Construction Director Bob Sanders said: "BAM is extremely pleased to secure this important project for Thames Valley Police after a fiercely competitive tender process.

"We took a lot of time to understand the client’s brief and are delighted to be able to use our skills and experience to deliver a sustainable, progressive training facility for police officers in the Thames Valley."
