Total Glass Supplies Aluminium Door For Olympic Athlete's Home Club

Total Glass has donated a new aluminium door to Southport YMCA Gymnastics Club where Great Britain gymnast and London 2012 Olympics competitor Daniel Scott Purvis learnt his sport and currently trains.

The Liverpool-based PVC-U and aluminium window and door fabricator used the Sapa 202 non-thermally broken commercial entrance door and framing from Sapa Building Systems Ltd designed to withstand the rigours of high usage and provide a reliable and secure entrance door for many years to come.

Finished in a polyester powder coated RAL 7015 mid-grey matt finish with a DDA-compliant closer, the door was installed by Ormskirk-based Countrywide uPVC North West. All three companies supplied their products and services free of charge to help the club, which has 1,100 members.

Sapa Building Systems Project Consultant Tim Adams said: "Total Glass has a history of helping in its local community and approached us to assist in the supply of the entrance door materials for this project. Sapa acknowledged this charitable side of the business and was only too happy to help."

Total Glass Group Managing Director Frank Deary, commented: "Along with Sapa and Countrywide, we were delighted to support the club with a secure new door that ensures its building will remain ‘fit for purpose’ for the gymnasts of the future. We wish Daniel all the best in the forthcoming Games."

Daniel, 21, from Crosby, Liverpool, a World and European Medallist in 2010 and 2011 and three-time British all-round champion in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, is coached by Head Coach Jeff Brooks.

Both agreed the smart new door is a great improvement, adding: "The old timber door was falling apart, so we’re very pleased with this generous gesture from Total Glass, Sapa and Countrywide uPVC that really makes a difference. It's so much better and with over 1,000 club members, the door will certainly get plenty of use!"

Michael Campbell, Joint Director with brother Paul at Countrywide uPVC, whose two daughters train at the club, said: "Everything went smoothly and the service from Total Glass was fantastic."
