BriggsAmasco Nurses Paediatric Hospital Roof Back To Health

Overcoming the severe logistical challenges of working on an active hospital site to deliver the project on budget and time, BriggsAmasco has installed a complex inverted roofing system at the new two storey paediatric extension for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The UK’s leading roofing and waterproofing specialist, BriggsAmasco, were called upon by the NHS Foundation Trust and the main contractor BAM Construction to work on the 935 metre square roof. The work had to be completed adjacent to the fully operational hospital and finished to a very high standard, and consisted of the installation of IKO PermaTEC Hot Melt System, insulation ballast and IKO green Roof.

The BriggsAmasco team installed a ManSafe fall protection system to ensure all operatives were protected whilst working at a high level and demonstrated their ability to work with other trades and follow exacting safety standards.

Richard Owen, Design Manager at BAM Construction said: "BriggsAmasco were selected primarily because of their extensive experience, and in house expertise from detailing and design, procurement and management of the works on site. This combined with the known quality of their workforce provided a winning formula for this element of the works. We were very impressed with the quality of the roofing installation."
