Prologis Build According To Environmental Standards

ProLogis, one of the world's largest owner, manager and developer of distribution facilities, has announced that it will require all new industrial space in the UK to be built according to environmental standards.

Effective immediately, all new ProLogis facilities currently in the design or planning stage, as well as projects going forward, must achieve a minimum rating of Very Good under the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), the national standard for best practice in sustainable development and environmental performance.

The BREEAM rating scale includes Pass, Good, Very Good and Excellent. Points are determined by measuring the impact the facility has on the environment and the employees working within it.

"This announcement is a continued demonstration of our commitment to sustainable warehouse construction," said Jack Rizzo, Head of Global Construction for ProLogis. "Earlier this year we detailed our plans to build all of our U.S. warehouse space according to nationally-accepted green building standards, so we are extremely pleased to now be implementing a similar program outside the United States. We are eager to continue expanding our sustainable development plans on a worldwide basis, and delivering the most sought-after distribution space on the market."
