Brian McCalden is Group Editor at Flagship Media Group, with past experience as Editor of NI Medicine Today and NI Veterinary Today and as a freelance contributor to Nursing Standard and as a sub editor on both the Belfast Telegraph and the News Letter. He was also a writer for NI Travel News and the glossy title, Escape. He was previously Group Editor at Greer Publications/Jemma Publications having been Editor of both Ulster Grocer and Catering & Licensing Review over a 10-year period as well as on other trade titles. He also gained substantial public relations experience after graduating as a mature student with a BA (Hons) Humanities degree. Several NCTJ modules have also been completed recently.
Gilli Kane is a journalist with over three years' experience writing for newspapers and websites. She gained a BA (Hons) Journalism Degree from Glasgow Caledonian University and holds an NCTJ Media Law qualification. Gilli is currently both a senior journalist and Editor of Build Scotland, a trade website for the construction industry, having been working for Flagship Media since 2007.
Damien Whinnery qualified as a journalist in 2006 before working in local newspapers, and then being employed as a web journalist at Flagship Media in 2007. With a background in and in-depth knowledge of the local music scene he went on to become Editor of the influential entertainment title, The Big List. With further journalism qualifications at NCTJ level, Damien has been widening The Big List's scope, style and readership with new features as well as developing 'The Big Gig' music project.
Colleen Dornan is a journalist with over 10 years experience writing for newspapers, magazines and websites. She has an Advanced GNVQ in Media Studies and holds a recognised journalist qualification - HND Level IV in Periodical Journalism. Colleen is currently Editor of Build UK, a trade website for the construction industry, and has been working for Flagship Media for over five years.
Brenda McNeill gained a BA (Hons) in Broadcasting & Video Production in 2001 and presented on Channel Five's Saturday morning live show, The Core. In 2002 she was a reporter/producer for Irish Radio Network, New York with celebrities including Mike Bloomberg, Ruldolph Giuliani, Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, Bob Geldof, Alicia Keyes, and The Corrs. Her own show, Celtic Tracks followed and she moved to FM with Radio Erin, also New York. BBC Northern Ireland documented her on BBC programme Sky High: New York alongside Christine Bleakley. An actor for over 20 years, Brenda can also be seen in a number of local TV commercials, productions and films. She is currently Acting Editor of Regional Film & Video and the associated website.
